After our mother passed away, my brother and I moved in with our grandmother and auntie. Life changed in an instant, but so did the way we were loved. They raised us with patience, strength, and deep care. Even though our hearts were hurting, we were never without warmth, discipline, and the kind of guidance only Southern women can give.
The memories from those years—porch talks, Sunday dinners, and lessons in respect and resilience—shaped who we are today. We were taught early on to honor our elders, mind our manners, and keep our heads high no matter what life threw our way.

As kids on our block, the world was our playground. We played in the woods like we were hunters and explorers. We made our own fishing poles and caught fish in the ditches, believing every small catch was a trophy.
